Turkmen Silver Cuff Bracelet Pair (546 grams)
$3,000.00
Offered is a very unique and beautiful antique Turkmen matching silver parcel gilt cuff pair. Each one features twelve red glass cabochons. On the back, they have a large number of spikes at the closure-- you would not want to get hit with them. These are wildly heavy and have the feeling of total power. Could you wear these to Coachella? Yes. Would these be perfect at Burning Man? For sure they would. Could you wear them for an Oscar acceptance speech? Pretty much. Gallery opening. You get the point. These are so sleek, so classic and so heavy they are undeniably timeless and exquisite.
Ok, logistics. These are not flexible. Your wrist must be able to get into them and they have a 30mm (1.2") and gap at the narrow end and 40mm (1.6") at the wide end.
One has some solder repairs on the inside, but these seem pretty tough and like you can wear them a lot. Much of the gilding has worn off.
Heavy at 546 grams.
Condition is good antique.
I'm not going to make a concession on the price but I do take layaway.
The Turkmen are nomadic people in the deserts of Turkmenistan and surrounding areas of central Asia where they have lived for thousands of years. They are well-known for their jewelry made of silver gilt accented with carnelian or red glass jewels and sometimes turquoise beads. There are five major tribes of turkmen, the Tekke, Ersari, Yomut, Choudur and Saryks represented by the five stars of the turkmen national flag.
