Scarce Charles II 1669 John King of London English Sterling Silver Trefid Tablespoon with Rattail

$1,800.00
A scarce 1669 solid sterling silver English trefid tablespoon with a rattail from the period of Charles II during the Renaissance. John King was one of the most important specialist spoonmakers from the last few decades of the 17th century and into the early 18th century. This spoon has all the classic characteristics and is nicely marked with a rubbed but readable data mark. The John King maker mark is exceptionally clear. Owner's marks of E:K over E:S 1685 indicate a later marriage. A later addition of the monogram 'C' is subtle and not too distracting. Rattail shows almost no wear which is unusual. A nice heavy gauge spoon. Slight upturn of the terminal. Condition is outstanding with little wear, no defects or repairs noted, and no removals. A scarce and exceedingly rare form in this large size. Weight: 61 grams Length: 7.75" Check out some of my other sterling silver here: http://www.etsy.com/shop/neurorocker?section_id=6783258 Or just browse around the shop! http://www.etsy.com/shop/neurorocker
