Scarce 1750-65 John Leacock of Philadelphia Coin Silver Colonial Spoon Set of Four

$450.00
Offered is a set of four coin silver teaspoons made 1750-65 by John Leacock of Phildaelphia. Leacock worked from 1750-1767 as a silversmith in Philadelphia Pennsylvania eventually retiring in 1767 or so to Lower Merion. He wasn't one to sit still for long, trying his hand at viniculture and then acting as a Loyalist in the American Revolution. Finally, he moved back to the city and became the Philadelphia Coroner. Perhaps only Winterthur Museum has a larger collection of matching Leacock spoons (a set of 6). Marked with an 'IL' in a sawtooth rectangular cartouche. Mark is a dead match to one identified in the Winterthur collection as DAPC Record Number (1988.3013) / Mark ID Number TM IL014. Condition is good with more than average wear, especially noted in several of the marks etc.. Nonetheless, scarce, scarce, scarce! 5.75” in length.
