$650.00
Superb American ca. 1820 coin silver cream jug made in Philadelphia, PA by John Owen, Jr. (active 1804-31). The pitcher has bulbous or ovoid shape with a thick short spout. A milled band of flowers adorns the raised pedestal base. Gadrooning at the lip and a nice ear-form handle with finger hold. It's lived a life and has a couple of small dings at the base and so ons. Overall, a rare piece from this maker with only a couple of other known examples. Collected by Winterthur (a single 2-light candlestick and a few odd teaspoons). This piece was last auctioned in 2006 out of a Columbia, SC estate, and was recently recovered again from the wild here from a Northern, Virginia estate by a picker. Marked J Owen in cartouche at the bottom of base. No monograms Weight: 219 grams. Dimensions: 4.25" tall, 6.5" handle to spout. [Reference: Hollan, Philadelphia Silversmiths] Check out some of my other sterling silver here: http://www.etsy.com/shop/neurorocker?section_id=6783258 Or just browse around the shop! http://www.etsy.com/shop/neurorocker
