Original 1952 Ansel Adams Framed Photograph of Conductor Erich Leinsdorf

An original ca. 1952 Ansel Adams photograph from his early career taken of Austrian-American conductor, Erich Leinsdorf, who was photographed with Adams' 150mm on Hasselblad camera in Rochester, NY as a part of his contract with the university. Leinsdorf was the principal conductor of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra from 1947 to 1955 before becoming head of the New York City Opera and the Metropolitan Opera Company of new York. Piece is unsigned, but is stamped appropriately for Adams' original work on the verso. Leinsdorf was an influentiual conductor who had a fondness for Beethoven and Wagner. Leinsdorf served in numerous high prestige posts throughout his career after leaving Austria in 1938 just ahead of the Nazi takeover. Very well framed using archival and conservation materials. And, double-framed so that the writing in the distinctive hand of Ansel Adams can be enjoyed when reversed (see also writing sample to compare). Ownership of the photograph has been established to me and this documentation will be transferred to the buyer.
