Mexican Solid Silver Two Handled Bernegal (Drinking Cup) - BTON

$450.00
A midcentury Mexican solid silver bowl with spurious Mexico City marks (my opinion) made in a colonial style. This piece is marked with spurious o/M (Mexico City), BTON, and eagle marks. Item has been tested and is positive for solid silver. The bowl has been hand raised and shows hammer marks throughout. The bowl sits on a flared pedestal and is nicely decorated with a repeated motif. Handles are cast and solid. Overall, made of a very heavy gauge and attractive. Although I do not believe this piece is authentic, it could be useful for study by an institution or collector. Weight: The bowl weighs about 171 grams. Width: 5.5” handle to handle, and 2.125” tall.
