Majahapit Javanese Bronze Warrior on Elephant Statue

$550.00
The statue is an antique Javanese one of a poised warrior holding something in both hands riding atop a rearing trumpeting elephant. The tail is tucked demurely to the right but the trunk is lowered with determination. Subtle designs have been cast into the elephant and these have faded with the heavy crystalline patina. The warrior appears to be wearing armor of some kind and is seated in the double lotus position. Condition is as you would hope with a deep though sometimes variegated patina. Elephant stands nicely and is stable on recently felted feet. Height is 14.75cm (5.8"). These were acquired from a larger lot of Javanese bronze artifacts in a Washington DC area estate auction.
