Joaquín Caicedo (1917-1983) was born in La Guaira, Vargas, Venezuela, in 1915. He studied under teachers Marcos Castillo, Rafael Ramón González, Francisco Narvaez and Luis Alfredo Lopez Mendez, taking courses in the School of Fine and Applied Arts of Caracas, in 1939-1943. Ten years later he presented his first solo exhibition at the Salon of Arts American Home in Caracas. He was one of the founders of the Venezuelan Association of Independent Artists. In 1955, he participated in a competition in Santiago de Chile for the centennial celebration of the city, in an event promoted by the Riverside Museum in New York. His earlier works showed an interest in Social Realism but he never abandoned his love of landscape painting throughout his career. Dimensions: 13" x 16". Condition is average.
