Japanese Chokin and 950 Silver Smoking Set in Original Box

A vintage Japanese smoking set engraved by "KŌ SHŌ" in the original box. The set includes a tray, a couple of lidded boxes, an ashtray, and a matchbox holder on a pedestal. With the exception of the insert of the matchbox, all of the silver components are 950 silver. The inset parts are heavy and are heat-patinated copper as is typical of the style that has been engraved and then gilded or with other metals applied (silver and gold). Several components have dark wood inserts and the ashtray has a blown glass insert. Chrysanthemum and cherry blossoms, birds. It's stunning and in virtually unused condition! Retailed and the silver stamped for Yamazaki Shoten. Price is firm.
