Huge 1810 Sterling George III English Stuffing Spoon by Peter and William Bateman London
$230.00
Outstanding example of the fine quality of Bateman family silversmithing. This large scale (11.5") stuffing spoon is hand forged from a heavy gauge of silver with a traditional old English profile. Monogrammed 'MBC' in fancy script. The hallmarks are particularly crisp for London, 1810, sterling, and the typically PB over WB with a smudgy edge. This mark was registered in 1805, after the death of Ann, for Peter Bateman and Wiliam (I) Bateman Certainly among the finest English spoons in my stock. Overall condition is good with typical minor wear from right-handed use to the bowl as shown. No notable damage given 200+ years of use.
