Offered for sale here is a gilded silver and enamel Chinese brooch with turquoise and coral cabochons. The finger guard from which the brooch is fashioned would have belonged to a Chinese woman of stature who would would have worn a set of them. Women of class at this time in China wore the finger guards to indicate that their hands were not used for labor. Four turquoises and three corals grace the piece. It was originally fashioned into a finger guard. Some time later, it would have been converted into a brooch.
