Ca 1800 Girl's Peruvian Sterling Silver Side Saddle Stirrup

$350.00
This ca. 1800 Peruvian stirrup would have been used by a girl. Apparently, women rode side saddle in Peru at this time utilizing only a single stirrup, so these are not generally found in pairs. It is a handmade master work with its hammered details. Composed generally of a slipper and a stirrup. The stirrup has a bar fitting from which it would have hung on the leathers. Every edge of this extremely heavy gauge item is forged and hammered by a silversmith. The piece is decorated in the traditional South American style and the sole of the slipper has a hole to allow water to drain. It is unmarked which is common for these rare pieces. 115 grams. Check out some of my other mixed silver holloware here: https://www.etsy.com/shop/DCSILVERSHOP?ref=shop_sugg§ion_id=6783258 Or just browse around the shop! https://www.etsy.com/shop/DCSILVERSHOP
