A scarce 1660-1700 solid silver trefid child's spoon with a rattail. This spoon has all the classic characteristics, but is unmarked. It could be an American spoon, it could be English or even possibly French. It appears unmarked and with no trace marks whatsoever. Rattail shows wear. Perhaps the marks were worn away. Nonetheless, a nice heavy gauge spoon.Slight upturn of the terminal. Condition is fair with a lot of honest wear including bite marks on the bowl and terminal, dents, bends, and scratches. Nonetheless, a scarce and exceedingly rare form and the only child size trefid available at this time. Ex-collection of Susan B. Smith, Williamsburg, VA.
