C. 1910 Chinese Export Silver Dragon Biscuit Barrel or Preserves Jar by Yok Sang of Shanghai

Yok Sang was a well-respected retail silversmith based in Shanghai who produced high quality Chinese export silver. This item is either a biscuit barrel or a preserves jar and it is especially lovely in that it has its original hand blow glass liner. The lid opens smoothly with a knob and is hinged. A swing handle can be used to bring it to the table. At the rim there is a hanger where a spoon or other serving implement can be hung. The box is decorated with the dragon chasing the pearl and the background has been hand stippled. Overall well executed and in very good condition (two fleabites are noted at the rim of the glass insert that cannot be seen).
