c. 1900 Silver Lucknow, India Repousse Weighted Bud Vase Pair (5")
$125.00
Indian colonial silver bud vase pair offered here for sale. These repousse vases, made in Lucknow, India around the fourth quarter of the 19th century harken back to a distant time and place with their elephants and tigers, and with a band of fish (emblem of Lucknow) around the upper collar. Palm trees, flowers and huts complete the rural agrarian scene. They are made of a heavy gauge of solid silver, but are made even heavier by being weighted with solid lead in the feet. Unsigned as is usual. Condition is good, but they do have signs of wear and use. As well the ruffled collar of one could benefit from a little reshaping. A slight tilt also noted, but appears they were made this way. Charming, early and fun.
5” in height.
