c. 1880 Gorham Narragansett Providence, RI Sterling Silver Salt Cellar Pair (model 1990).
$650.00
c. 1880 Gorham Narragansett like pattern sterling silver partial gilt salt cellar pair. Marked clearly for Gorham (lion, anchor, G). Extremely elegant and with good gilding on the inside. Gorham made the Narragansett pattern to celebrate the proximity of the company to the ocean and made numerous pieces at this time that were intended to celebrate the beauty and the power of the Atlantic Ocean. These are not personalized. Condition is very good. A couple of very small dings in the bottom of one that honestly just blend into the texture. Gilding is weak and there area couple scratches. Catalogue number 1990. Each has hand work, particularly in the hand sawn notches at the shell edges as well as the accumulation of particles on the bottoms. In other words, each is intentionally unique and they are not identical.
Dimensions: about 1" tall by 5" end to end.
Weight: 144 grams
