c. 17th Century Dutch Silver Milk Jug
$1,600.00
A fine 1760-1780 Dutch .835 (83.5%) solid silver and wood milk jug by an unidentified maker in Netherlands. The large bulbous body of this pitcher holds a generous 12 ounces of milk, cream, or whatever you wish. The spout bears a striking profile as it sharply protrudes out in a dramatic curve. The handle is elegant, probably replaced, and made of boxwood. Finally it sits on three proud hoof feet. The pitcher has been personalized with a prominent royal coat of arms perhaps belonging to a baron (not identified).
Condition is very good with no dents or major issues. Marks are rubbed, but bears a pretty clear 17th century Friesian inspection mark that has been found on other Dutch silver items.
Weight: 282 grams.
Dimensions: 4.25" x 6.5" x 7.5"
