C. 1782 English Sterling Silver Sugar Tea Tongs by James Sutton & James Bult of London

A lovely pair of James Sutton & James Bult scissor form sugar tongs in the popular ornate style that peaked in the 1760-70 decade in England. Sutton & Bult were known tong-makers, their mark was entered as London maker in 1782. A beautiful pair in outstanding condition! With an owner's mark of IGM. Marked at the insides of the handles with the 'IS IB' mark and the lion passant. Scallop form. 30 grams, 4.75". A joy to hold with a tight hinge. Broad five lobe grips.
