Antique Tibetan Silver Dagger Hanger Pair Ornaments (182 grams)
$850.00
A matched pair of antique solid silver Sino-Tibetan or Tibetan dagger belt hangers. The elaborate repousse work illustrates numerous important spiritual iconography including four bats symbolizing happiness in the Chinese tradition, the snow lion, and the dragons chasing the flaming pearl.
The gauge of the silver is very thick, rigid, and generally stiff as though the item was certainly made for use (see images of the Tibetan costumes which use this form. Wear is noted especially at the high spots of some f the repousse. Hinge pin on one has been replaced with a copper pin, but I have elected not to restore this with a new made pin. Both are signed clearly with an unidentified maker mark. Actual age is unknown, but they appear quite old. Glorious!
