Antique Southern (Nakornsrithammarat) Thailand Silver 32" Belt with 3 Piece Qílín Buckle

Offered for sale here is a silver belt that was produced in the Far East, possibly in Cambodia or Thailand. This gorgeous and functional belt probably dates 1900-1930. Belt strap is made from silver mail. The buckle features a mythical creature that resembles the cloven hooved Qílín. This is flanked by two prunus branches. This belt is unmarked but guaranteed solid silver. Little wear save surface scratches, exceedingly minor bends to the woven part etc.. as expected for an item this age. The fastening mechanism is ingenious where the side with the Qílín orms the center of the other buckle side sliding into place very securely. Quite a piece! About 2" across at the buckle. Total weight is 255 grams. Made for a 33" waist. A jeweler could shorten it by removing links.
