Antique Japanese Mixed Metals Kozuka Sterling Silver Fruit Knife Set

$1,200.00
These opulent 19th century Japanese kozuka handles have been updated with newly made custom sterling silver blades by an American master silversmith. The blade design is based on 19th century fruit knives of a variety. With great intention, they have been finely polished, but with evidence of the hammering used to produce them and have also been intentionally patinated in homage of Tiffany 'Japonisme' style pieces. The blades are fairly sturdy-- certainly good enough for fruit, and possibly somewhat heavier duty tasks as well. Each blade features a unique pattern and there are slight variation to the length of the handles that have been equalized by the blade lengths. Blades are stamped sterling and with the silversmith's mark. Handles are variously copper or silver plated and some are also gilded. No handle is alike and you and your guests will endlessly delight at the tiniest details-- the sprawling dragon, the langostine, the waterbird with a fish in beak, the warrior monk with its apocryphal engraving, the houseboat moored under the moonlit night, and the swimming fish among seagrass. How could you choose a favorite? Condition is outstanding and they are ready to be pressed into service immediately.
