Antique Chinese 18K Gold Fenghuang Bangle Bracelet 31.5 grams

A substantial 18 karat gold (750) bangle bracelet with eight images of the mythical Chinese Phoenix (fenghuang) and the character for "good fortune" (福). This piece is made in China, and is stamped 18K (indistinct). Bracelet acid tests at 18K and has been confirmed solid 18K by third party XRF. This may have been a wedding gift as the Chinese considered the dragon and phoenix symbolic of blissful relations between husband and wife. In China and Japan it was a symbol of the imperial house, and it represented "fire, the sun, justice, obedience, and fidelity". Condition is very good and finish is bright. Classic antique Chinese design.
Dimensions: about 16.75mm across the band and 4.35 mm thick. Just under 64mm (2.52") in diameter. Circuference: 200mm (7.87" around). Weight is a staggering 31.8 grams. Bracelet has solid pierced construction giving it a nice size and presence on the wrist. Hinged with a secure pinch clasp. Bracelet has a replacement security chain.
