Antique Carved Indian Statue of Krishna with his Enchanted Flute
Offered here is a gorgeous antique carved statue of Krishna playing his enchanted flute from the heart. This figure is executed with extreme detail on all sides and shows the young god in his bare feet, legs crossed and wearing garlands of flowers and beaded necklaces. His wrists are adorned by bracelets and his bicep has an arm band. The whole figure stands on a wooden base made from a beautifully figured tropical hardwood. There is a partial label remaining on the bottom of the base. Condition is excellent with minor losses to the delicate tips of a few peacock feathers.
Dimensions: 8.5” including the 1.5” base.
Krishna is pictured in Hindu symbology with a crown of peacock's feathers, playing the flute. Krishna is the ideal of divine love, the God of love. And the divine love expresses itself by entering into man and filling his whole being. Therefore the flute is the human heart, and a heart which is made hollow will become a flute for the God of love to play upon. When the heart is not empty, in other words, when there is not scope in the heart, there is no place for love.
