A 1690 sterling silver provincial Scottish laceback trefid tablespoon with rattail recovered recently from Edinburgh. The maker mark is a clearly struck fleur de lis in the bowl. A nice heavy gauge spoon. Slight upturn of the terminal. Condition is very good with honest wear on the bowl and terminal, including surface scratches. Nonetheless, a scarce and exceedingly rare form with rather crisp decoration, and one of the finest of its type available.
