A Bronze Figure of a Praying Attendant Ming Dynasty, 17th Century | 明十七世紀 銅佛教人物立像

Offered is a Ming Dynasty (1368 to 1644) or possibly earlier Chinese bronze polychrome figure of Siddhartha (the Buddha) as a child pointing to the sky and to earth. The figure, with traces of bright gilding and paint, is executed in bronze and is beautifully figured. He stands upon a lotus blossom that itself is atop a multi-tiered hexagonal base. The upper layer of the hexagonal bases is richly decorated with incuse gilded lotus blossoms, and the lower tier is decorated in an oxidized red paint. Condition of this scarce figure is very good with no losses (i.e., fingers intact etc). Sall repair to rear right foot
Overall, a really interesting piece with a very rich and authentic patina.
Dimensions: 7.25" tall and about 562 grams in weight.
