A 1750 Samuel Boyer Boston Coin Silver Tablespoon

Offered for sale, a splendid colonial American tablespoon by Daniel Boyer of Boston. This spoon is marked at the reverse with an exceptionally sharp BOYER mark in rectangular cartouche. This spoon also has the swage impressed pictureback pattern of a scallop and has been engraved for the owner 'B:C.' This spoon is large, heavy gauge and in very good condition. It has an upturned terminal and a central spine. Boyer was a fourth Sergeant in the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company and he was later drafted to fight the British at age 51. Many spoons bearing Boyer's marks were actually made by neighbor, Zachariah Brigden. Altogether, only 70 pieces of Boyer's work have survived.
