A 1750 Boston Silver Covered Sugar Bowl by Samuel Boyer

Offered for sale, an exceptional colonial American covered silver sugar bowl by Daniel Boyer of Boston. This sugar is marked at the bottom with the BOYER mark in rectangular cartouche.Inverted pear form on molded circular foot, the domed handle with a flaring ring handle. The base engraved for four generations of owners starting with C:A VF 1753, quite possibly patriot and Boston resident, Charles Vanderfoot. Subsequently engraved: SPVV 1816, CVVB 1851, TDB 1889z
The design of these sugars have much in common with mid-17th century Chinese covered rice bowls.
