19th Century Sumatran Engraved Brass Betel Box

$140.00
This very old Dutch colonial-era brass betel box was produced in Sumatra 1850-1910. Interior is heavily coroded and has concretions on it-- perhaps accreted lime powder. Lock mechanism is missing as are the containers that probably once fit inside. No marks except nice hand engraved patterns. Slight splits at the bottom (stable) and a small hole at the bottom. Opens and closes nicely. Nice one. This box measures: 2.25" x 3" x 6.75". Check out some of my other antiques here: http://www.etsy.com/shop/neurorocker?section_id=6783279 Or just browse around the shop! http://www.etsy.com/shop/neurorocker
