19th Century Scottish Provincial Ram's Horn Snuff Mull with Silver Fittings

$300.00
Offered here is a larger traditional Scottish snuff mull made from the horn of a ram. Nicely polished and fitted with silver, this one has a slight upturn where the finger was meant to open the box. This top must have had a cork or something which has been lost and thus stays closed but not tightly. The top is adorned with a thistle and cartouche which has been engraved with the initials 'TC' in a cursive script. Has a few cracks but is still held together. Possibly a few repairs in the horn, nothing major. No maker mark. These simply designed mulls would have been used by the common Scotsman as opposed to more elaborate examples. Condition: has a crack but seems stable. Check out some of my other English sterling silver holloware here: https://www.etsy.com/shop/DCSILVERSHOP?ref=shop_sugg§ion_id=6409956 Or just browse around the shop! https://www.etsy.com/shop/DCSILVERSHOP
