1931-1946 William Spratling Sterling Silver 'Woven Petate' Brooch and Earrings Taxco

Being offered is an original 1942 pair of William Spratling sterling silver earrings alongside a stunning matching brooch. Spratling referred to this design as "woven petate" (catalog #). These were recently recovered from a Texas estate. Handsome design that is classic Spratling motif with each having the woven silver in the petate pattern which is a traditional Spanish bed or mat. This brooch is an early piece of Spratling and was made in the range of 1931-1946. Marked with the incuse WS mark, and raised Spratling Made in Mexico mark on the brooch as well as the raised Spratling Silver mark. The earrings are also marked Spratling Made in Mexico (partly obscured by the clamp) on one and only a G is visible on the other. Weight is 77 grams.
Condition is consistent with age and use as shown. One corner with a possible bump (subtle). Original pin anchor replaced with new silver solder because it was fixed with very old lead solder that was not strong enough for your favorite brooch. Great gift for an adoring wife or girlfriend.
