Offered is an original watercolor painting by Holmes Smith (1863-1937) executed on paper c. 1910 in Mink Cove, Nova Scotia. The scene is a few homes and a fenced area set along a dirt lane with wagons. Signed lower left. Colors are beautiful and this is a classic Holmes Smith painting by a well known regionalist. The painting is 7.5"x4.75" and is sold unframed. Smith was a longtime faculty member of Washington University. He came to the University in 1884 as a drawing instructor and became professor of drawing and history of art in 1907. I have a number of Smith watercolors that were sourced from deaccessions from the family estate. Perfect for framing.
