1890 French Sterling Silver Covered Tureen or Dish with Underplate by Emil Delair

$6,000.00
The decoration on this French silver legumier is splendid! Olive and pansy laurels festoon every surface with some ribbons. A formed edge carries forward this theme. Two blank cartouches on either side of the lid and then a gorgeous trio of artichokes makes the finial atop a bed of white oak leaves. The textured handles merge the rocaille and foliate garlands in the pattern. Condition is very good to excellent with light surface scratches. Lid fits the tureen magnificently-- like two old friends shaking hands. The piece is fully hallmarked with the silver standard for 950/1000 parts silver, the Minerve 1st series, and the maker mark of Emile Delaire. Dimensions: 6.5" x 9.5" x 15" Weight: 1,650 grams (53 troy ounces) Check out some of my other French sterling silver hollowware here: https://www.etsy.com/shop/DCSILVERSHOP?ref=shop_sugg§ion_id=29377404 Or just browse around the shop! https://www.etsy.com/shop/DCSILVERSHOP
