1880 Wood & Hughes of New York City Coin Sterling Silver Sugar Bowl

A matte finish parcel gilt sugar basket made in NYC by well known maker Wood & Hughes around 1870-1890. W & H worked in NewYork between 1845-1899 as silversmiths. The bowl has a braided silver swinging bucket type handle that hangs from two gooseneck hooks at the bowl side. There is an extremely elegant band of Aesthetic Period decoration around the flared rim. The piece is 2.75" tall and 4.75" in length. This sugar bowl is monogrammed with a 'W'. Well hallmarked as shown (W&H Sterling 82). Some wear is present in the bowl consistent with normal use and age (couple dents).
