1880 Silver Bowl with Tbilisi Georgia Marks Assayed in Moscow - 84 Silver

$1,200.00
This 84 silver pedestal bowl is quite a survivor. Made in Tbilisi, Georgia in 1880 and assayed in Moscow. It has such simple and timeless lines. The bowl rises upon a sweeping flared foot that is decorated with incised lines. This opens into a wide and deep bowl with a flat rim. The upper walls of the bowl are sparsely decorated by two pairs of incised lines that encircle the rim. Some examples of this Classic Georgian design have later added elaborate repousse designs, but this one has been left original. It bears a small and understated monogram that is period. Marked with the '84' purity mark, a dated Moscow assay mark (1880) and the assayer's initials for Egor Blyumberg. Condition is very good with some minor surface riffles as it is made from a lighter gauge. Finally, on the bottom of the foot, there is a polished notch-- probably from where it was filed and tested. It's fairly subtle, but full disclosure.
