1872 Gorham Chinoiserie Sterling Silver Parcel Gilt Pedestal Bowl Mixed Metal
$1,200.00
1872 Gorham chinoiserie parcel gilt sterling bowl. A really special little pedestal bowl. Would make a splendid pincushion, and is the perfect size and shape to hold a bar of soap. Decorated generously with the image of a man smoking an opium pipe, tropical birds and beautiful flowers, all of course executed in acid etched gilt silver above the ground in the Chinese style. The gauge of the silver is incredibly heavy and the full gilding of the interior is in great condition. This is one of those silver vessels that rings like a magnificent bell! It's a showstopper. Marked for Gorham and the date mark for 1872 ('E'), Sterling, catalogue number '85', and the number '4'. Best in class. Condition is excellent, though it may once have had a top.
Dimensions: just under 2.75" tall x 3.75" wide
Weight: 200.7 grams
