1852 Austrian Sterling Silver Candlestick Pair (11") Shabbat

Offered is an important pair of Austrian silver 1852 candlesticks produced by an unidentified Viennese silversmith. These are made of thirteen “loth” silver (81.2% silver content). These are fashioned in the traditional shabbat candlestick form with repousse and hand chasing at the bottom. Fluted stems. These are solid silver and not weighted. Each on is marked for silver content, year, Vienna, and maker (obscured). Weight: 565 grams. Pair is identical. Condition is very good with some patina. Very nicely hallmarked. Some damage underneath the overhanging sockets that cannot be seen without flipping them over (shown). Care should be exercised with all candlesticks when inserting candles to use the appropriate amount of force and reinforcement.
11" tall (28 cm) and 5.5" across the bottom (14cm).
