A scarce 1845 Henry Hyman coin silver tablespoon by Southern Jewish silversmith Henry Hyman of 96 West main St, Richmond, VA (active 1835-1855). Hyman was a member of the Synagogue Beth-Ahaba in Richmond formed in 1844. Made of solid coin silver. Handsome early fiddleback pattern with a downturned terminal. Engraved with the monogram "RW" on the terminal. Condition is fair with well done early repairs to the bowl and age-related patina. This is a lighter gauge piece. Scarce. Marked on the back in a serrated rectangular cartouche "H Hyman .
