A scarce 1843 Irish parcel gilt sterling silver berry spoon. Large in stature and well built by Christopher Cummins Jr. of Dublin of solid sterling silver. Handsomely chased at the front with meandering floral motifs at the stem and with a rattail back. The handle terminates with a downturned drop and features an armorial of an Irish Yew tree. Bowl is parcel gilt with pie crust edges and a bouquet of opulent fruit, especially a large pineapple (indicative of wealth). Clearly and distinctively marked with all the correct hallmarks for Victoria, sterling, Dublin, 1843, a retailer mark for James R. Neill, and the Cummins maker marks. No damage and condition is outstanding with minor gilt loss and surface scratching.
