1826-27 Robert Titus of Knoxville, TN Coin Silver Teaspoon Set of Five (5)
$1,800.00
A very scarce c. 1826-27 Robert Titus of Knoxville, TN coin silver teaspoon set of five (5). Handsome early fiddleback pattern with a downturned terminal. Engraved with the monogram "MW" on the terminal. More research is needed, but a possible owner is Moses White III, son of Brigadier General James White, the founder of Knoxville. Moses White III would have had both the means and the name to make a good match for these early Southern spoons.
Condition is very good with minor overall wear from use such as light surface scratches and age-related patina. These are made of a lighter than average gauge.
Length is about 5.5"
Weight: 49 grams on the set
[Reference: Tennessee Silversmiths, Caldwell, p. 161]
