1820 Picture Back Fiddle Pattern Coin Silver Teaspoon by Newark Retailer Henry Chester Porter
$90.00
Offered here, a Newark coin silver fiddleback picture back teaspoon engraved with a monogram ('PM'). This spoon was hand made in the 19th century of sterling silver. Spoon is to be considered a picture back with a nice decoration between the handle and the bowl on obverse. Reverse is stamped "H.C.P." and includes pseudomarks of a lion passant, 'D', and a right-facing bust portrait, a known but unidentified Newark silversmith. Condition is good with minor patina and surface scratching typical of a piece of this age. Would make an especially fine gift! 6" and about 18.9 grams.
