1820 American Coin Silver Porringer, Possibly Boston

$800.00
A gorgeous porringer from the lifelong estate of Chestertown, MD antiques collector William Creager. Creager lived in Washington, DC and in Chestertown. As the handle of this porringer is a near exact match to another unmarked one in my collection with a clear Boston provenance, I believe this may have also been made in Boston. Circular, with openwork cast "keyhole" handle and of a heavy gauge of silver. Handsomely engraved in block numbers: "1820" and "HD to ADG" as this was probably a wedding gift. The piece was probably made in 1820 or it could be earlier. Condition: Top quality with no major issues noted. Small dings and light surface scratching noted. Dimensions: 1.75" x 8". 184 grams See also: Check out some of my other sterling silver here: https://www.etsy.com/shop/DCSILVERSHOP?ref=shop_sugg§ion_id=19121632 Or just browse around the shop! https://www.etsy.com/shop/DCSILVERSHOP
