1815 John Targee of New York Silver Hanoverian Spoon Set of 11 - American Federal Silver
$600.00
This set features 11 sleek fiddleback teaspoons with a simple engraved period monogram 'CMC' on the handle. Made by the New York silversmith, John Targee. I suspect they were made about 215 years ago around 1805 in New York City at his 24 Gold Street workshop. Each is well marked for John Targee (‘IT’). Patina and satin finish are perfect and not overpolished (one with significant damage to terminal). Very conservatively, there are typical signs of use commensurate with age, subtle areas of dark patina, slight wear to some hallmarks, and minor dints.
250 grams (approximately 22 grams apiece). Just a touch over 5.75" in length. Made of a medium gauge (i.e., slight flexibility, but not flimsy).
The set will not be split. Additional photos available on request.
