1802 Hartford Communion Cup by Hervey Sadd Federalist American Coin Silver
$2,000.00
An 1802 silver communion cup by Hervey Sadd, an important federalist silversmith operating in Hartford. The communion cup is one of the great gifts of silver to an American church. In this gift, the church received almost a dozen such cups (including this specific one) and this is documented in the 1913 book, The old silver of American churches, by E. Alfred Jones (see photo). The cup has been in possession of the church since it was gifted by Cowles in 1802. Please note carefully the condition of the cup which is severely and irreparably damaged (possibly by fire).
