1798 and William IV English Sterling Silver Sugar Sifter by Jonathan Hayne of London (Silver of William Ward Bennitt Esq)
$120.00
A medium gauge English sterling silver sugar sifter (1798) made by Jonathan Hayne.
This is silver having belonged to William Ward Bennitt Esq of Stokegreen House, Slough. It bears his armorial: a horse's head couped, arg., pierced through the neck by an arrow in bend sinster, point downward to dexter, all ppr. ie a horses head in profile cut off straight at base, pierced through neck with an arrow slanting down to left with point on left
Certainly among the finest English silver in my stock. Overall condition is very good with typical minor wear to the armorial and maker mark on the sifter (probably belonged to an earlier ancestor) as shown. No notable damage given 180+ years of use. I won't break up the set. Prices is firm.
Sifter is about 4.5" in length.
20 grams
