1795-1805 pair of acorn coin silver tongs made by Joseph and Teunis D. DuBois of Monmouth County for William Garret Forbes of New York City, NY. Bright cut engraving and good condition. Condition is near perfect with light surface scratches. These are the only available Boutier tongs at this writing. These appear to be monogrammed 'AEH'. Prior to the recovery of this pair, there are four known pairs of DuBois tongs including at the Monmouth Historical Society Museum.
Winterthur, tongs at YUAG (1985.85.275), and Winterthur among many others have DuBois silver; spoons at New York Historical Society under OBJECT NUMBER: 1911.56a-l. A piece at YUAG.
