1790-1830 Sun Shing Chinese Silver Cricket Cage from Hong Kong (193 grams)

An early well crafted silver cricket cage, possibly as old as the 1790's! A little tank of a thing with reticulation to the tight fitting lid. The lid opens with a ring pull. The sides and bottom are plain. The bottom bears very clear marks for Sun Shing, and these are the earlier pre-1830 pseudomarks of a lion passant, a crowned leopard, the 'SS' maker mark, and the pseudomark resembling King George. The box is perfect for keeping pens or of course something fragrant that can waft out of the lid or jewelry or anything you wish! Incredibly rare piece by a rare maker. Recovered from a St. Paul, Minnesota estate. No major condition issues, but a couple of small splits (shown). Really quite resplendent and I doubt it will last long.
