1785-1810 Daniel Dod Coin Silver Teaspoon - Mendham, New New Jersey
$1,000.00
It may be the only identified piece of silver by Daniel Dod, watch and instrument maker from Mendham, NJ. Dod died young, just 45 when killed in a steam accident. This piece, celtic point in design, is simple but well made. It has a monogram on the terminal of 'AW'. The maker's mark, 'D Dod', is very well struck on the obverse. Condition is outstanding with no issues. This spoon is a teaspoon of a typical size for the time. The Daniel Dod house still stands in Mendham, shown. One of a kind. Attribution is not fully established and it should be noted that all the extant Dod family clocks and instruments that have survived are all signed by engraving, not a mark.
Length is: 5"
Weight is: 11 grams
