Offered is a set of four coin silver teaspoons made 1790 by Joseph Richardson, Jr. of Philadelphia. Downturned terminals and engraved with a Monogram 'M'
Richardson worked from 1777-1805 as a silversmith in Philadelphia Pennsylvania eventually retiring after partnership with his brother Nathaniel Richardson. Philadelphia Museum of Art, Yale University Art Gallery, the Met, Winterthur, and the Marble Collection all collect his work [Ref: Hollan].
Marked with a 'J.R' in a rectangular cartouche with a flaw at lower left corner. Mark is a dead match to one illustrated in position 1 of Hollan.
Condition is good with no noted flaws.. Nonetheless, scarce, scarce, scarce!
Length: A little more than 5.75.
Weight: 58.5 grams
