1775 George III Butter Spade by James Phipps in Sterling Silver with Ebony Turned Handle

Offered here is a truly unique sterling silver butter spade or butter knife with a classic turned ebony handle. Marked IP on the obverse of the blade. Gorgeous! Probably James Phipps I. Condition is good with bumps and bruises. Slight loosening at the handle. Replaced pin. File mark. Etc.. Length: 9.75” Weight: 78 grams Nearly one of a kind. No other similar examples have been found. Lower section of silver is solid and heavy. Upper section is hollow.
