1775-80 Zebulon Stanton of Stonington, CT Coin Three (3) Silver Teaspoons

$400.00
A rare 1775-80 coin silver teaspoon set of three (3) by Zebulon Stanton of Stonington, CT monogrammed 'P'. These spoons have an interesting profile with a blunted terminal. A nice light to medium gauge design. Slightly downturned terminals. Condition is good with slight right handed bowl wear. Stanton's work is fairly scarce. Stanton served in the Revolutionary War as a patriot. The Zebulon Stanton House, 83 Main Street in Stonington Borough, was built around 1786. Zebulon Stanton was a silversmith and used the south ell on the right of his house, built in the 1790s, as his silver shop. Zebulon had earlier been in partnership with his brothers, Daniel and Enoch, both of whom had been killed in the defense of Fort Griswold in 1781.
